A rich body of research about effective substance abuse prevention is available from the National Institute on Drug Abuse. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration also houses the nation’s prevention services agency, the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention and maintains a registry of evidence-based effective programs. Columbia University hosts the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse, which conducts research on substance abuse prevention.
